And here we have a rather curious discovery from the Isle of VanTiki: The DEMOKU mug.  Why do we call this seemingly fearsome vessel curious?  Well, throughout the last century explorers have uncovered a handful of similar mugs - each one seemingly modeled after some as-yet-undiscovered “Master Mug”.  Archaeologists postulate that the DEMOKU mugs were used by carvers to demonstrate their construction techniques to new apprentices.  Perhaps as more DEMOKU are discovered we will lean the true tale of these mugs - until then, Archaeologists suggest regularly filling and draining the DEMOKU mug with rum and nectars in order to preserve the delicate carvings.

A vintage Mr. Bali Hai takes a closer look at the carving.

The DEMOKU #2 Mug is 8 inches tall and weighs 3 pounds 13 ounces.  It is entirely hand crafted by Henrik Van Ryzin out of glazed high-fire ceramics with porcelain details. No molds were used in the construction of this mug.  Stamped, signed, and dated by the artist.
